Don't ignore your cervical screening - screening saves lives.
Facts (NHS UK)
Screening is a test to help to prevent Cervical cancer, not to detect cancer.
Cervical screening checks for certain types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) which can cause cancer. This test is also called an HPV test.
It can also detect abnormal cell changes before they become cancerous, so getting screened can help to stop it before it starts.
It is a quick and easy test.
Age & Gender: It is offered to every person between the ages 25-64 years, who has a cervix and is registered with a GP.
Personalised screening intervals: From July 2025 NHS will offer cervical screening on a 5-yearly basis, the primary mode of invite will be digital via the NHS app, but letters will be sent out if needed.
